This is a study, of the Foreknowledge of God by Arthur W. Pink, from his book, The Attributes of God. Is divine Foreknowledge, God "knowing" what the individual will "choose", or is it God setting His love on the individual and predestining him, to be conformed to the image of Christ? (Romans 8:29) We affirm, that God is omniscient, and all knowing, but in the bible, when the term "foreknowledge" is used, it is always of a person, not of a persons actions, such as faith. As we know, that Eph. 2:8.9 tells us, even our faith is a gift of God. So Foreknowledge in its truest sense, is God freely setting His love on the individual. "Knowing" them beforehand, in a personal relationship.

  • Amen......Very good work.......God bless you...!

  • @bornfree3 thank you sir, but I can take no credit! All I did was read a faithful mans work for the Lord! Soli Deo Gloria!

  • Even if we take "foreknow" as "foreloved" we should see this in light of Christ's words in John 14:21; 23-24, 15:9-10, which taken together show that God loves those who obey Him, and those who remain in His love. So it would follow that God has foreloved those who would indeed love Him, showing that foreknowledge signifies God knowledge of persons and the obedience they would show, and thus He predestined them to be elect in Christ.

  • @Brightstar27 Seems like you are adding works to salvation. Dont you know, we are saved by Grace, through Faith? But you act as though, God looked down the corridor of time, and chose those who would "be good". How can anyone be good, when all are dead in their trespasses? And did you not know, He loved us, BEFORE we loved Him?(1John 4:19) Those whom God loved, are the ones who will keep His commands, who will Love Him. Romans 8:29. He predestined us to walk in His statutes. Ezek. 36

  • Makes me want to get this book. I am also interested in his book of Dispensationalism, as well.

    Shalom & God Bless!

  • Ah, these are things more Christians should be aware of. Knowing in the Hebrew sense of the word, like Adam knew Eve as in Genesis 4.

  • Good stuff. Thanks for posting it, and I'm looking forward to future posts.
