Superb documentary, full of great insight with some great film and amazing first hand testimony from veterans who deserve our respect and admiration. I like the balanced commentary which doesn't demonise the Japanese. It leaves you with the impression that war isn't heroic but a degredation of our humanity of which the battle for Iwo was a particularly vicious and concentrated example. I'd recommend watching all 14 parts.

Many of those interviewed don't look very old. What date is this documentary? Were the interviews of the original documentary, or inserted later?
