K that is my generation right. I would not say all those artists are intellectuals. Remember during that time it was popular to rap and so type of higher thought because there was so much going on at the time. The state of the American society was not good during that era of hip hop. Made for better music but shit was bad. So those guys had a lot more to rap about. But I think guys who are dedicated to that conscious style of rap are intellectuals. X-Clan? No they just wore a lot of costumes lol
