Many pet owners, especially those pet parents breeds of dogs that have longer hair/coats, are not aware of the fact that the hair in their dog's ears must get plucked to prevent sore ears, excessive scratching, sores, matts, and ear infections.

Unfortunately many groomers avoid plucking a dog's ear hairs because it is just easier not to have to deal with it. In reality, not only do dogs tolerate the slight pain very well, but the relief they feel is beyond any feeling at all. Not to mention, they are unlikely to suffer from ear infections resulting in a lot more pain and discomfort for the dog.

At Doglando, our groomers face this on a regular basis. And unfortunately, sometimes, like in this case, the growth becomes so thick that is results in matting. I can not even imagine how this would feel.....

Please be sure to ask your pets stylist, or our professional groomers for advice on how to maintain your dog's ear hair.

  • Great video!

My Golden and pitbull have hair in their ears, but not to this extent!

Wow that was a lot!! Bet he felt better after that thing was out of there, could probably hear much better too!!

  • Great video! Very educational.

Some pet owners really need to see more graphic / close up videos like these.

It sure provides a graphic reality check for those who do not have a clue as how to handle grooming requirements like these.

I really do not know how that dog could have possibly been able to hear with all of that hair in its ears.

Glad you removed it, but I bet that dog was very thankful you did it. :)

A little bit of discomfort is a good thing!

  • Had that clump been there for a long time? Its huge! o__o
