Ovechkin boarding major & game misconduct - Suspended for 2 games

Ovechkin boards Campbell, get's a boarding major and then he gets ejected from the game.

Washington Capitals star forward Alex Ovechkin, serving a two-game suspension for a hit on Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Brian Campbell Sunday, issued the following statement Tuesday.

"I am very sorry that Brian was injured and I hope he is able to return to his team soon. NHL hockey is a physical game. We all play hard every time we are on the ice and have battles each shift in every game we play so we can do our jobs and win. As players we must accept responsibility for our actions and I am no different but I did not intend to injure Brian and that is why I was disappointed with the NHL's decision yesterday. Every time I have the honor to play for my team, I will continue to do what I have done since I was taught to play. I will play hard, play with passion and play with respect for my teammates, opponents and fans. I look forward to returning to my team and doing everything I can to be the best player I can be."

NHL working hard to get cindi crosby that all important scoring title! all they have to do is have ovechkin play 10 less games than him...

and of course the media just needs something to bitch about:

one year: russians play to soft, what a bunch of sissies, us super tough north americans have heart and grit!

The hit was late however Ovechkin probably didnt see the pass the defender made...The defender let his guard down because the pass was gone way before the hit...hits a few feet away from the boards are dangerous...better off to be closer to boards when getting hit like that...you also see this type of play on icing plays...they can really injure a player...this issue isnt about toughness...Its about saftey.

they were 10feet from the boards so you cant call boarding ... looks like guy went head first intentionally to get a call didnt realize he would pay the price for it ... 2 min penalty tops ... stop hatin the playa .. hate the game
