So first off let me apologize for the blurriness of the pictures. I have a broken hand and was struggling to quickly take these shots and frame them correctly without my proper hand to help.

The body had no official markings saying it was a McNeilus but I'm fairly certain that it is one. I saw this one drive by the gas station by my house (which has gas up to $3.89 a gallon :-O) on my way to work. I occasionally see an Athens truck, but it's from an acquired company (I'm thinking it is Norcal Waste) and is a really beat up Heil smooth-sided FL on an Xpeditor WX64. But today I saw this thing, which was very odd since Athens doesn't have too many Heil FL's in their fleet that I'm aware of. There are some features that made it stand out among all the other McNeilus FL's that are in operation around here. So I wanted to get a shot of it.

Obviously this isn't my best work, and for that I'll apologize again. But please enjoy anyway!

  • Great to see some footage from you Bill - the truck almost looks like some model that you would find in a magazine with no markings or anything.

  • @r6man2 Thanks! I may not be uploading regularly, but I'm constantly on the vigil for odd stuff like this.

  • what year is that unit?

  • @heil702 I don't know. The driver was great, but knew nothing about his truck. He said he thought it was an Amrep, when he said that, I stopped asking him questions. lol

  • looks like a wittke cab sheild

  • i just realized but this looks like the new amrep eliptical cab shield

  • I won't bother suggesting what it could be, but McNeilus seems like the most likely label for this truck. Quick lift at idle and a very clean truck! Always like how the operators let the containers roll off by tilting the forks =]

  • Looks like it could be an Atlantic Series Mcneilus, but I could be wrong.

  • Yes, this is 100% definitely a McNeilus. It looks to me like that cab shield is custom though, hence the lack of McNeilus markings, since the cab shield is the only place that McNeilus marks their FL's.

  • im pretty sure it is an mc neilus i know for sure they run tons of these thanks for the vid

  • Nice
