  • my puppy is only 5 week will she still listen? shes very tiny :P

  • @XCyborgNoodleX A 5 week old puppy is very capable of learning through clicker training. Her attention span will be much shorter, so you will have to take your time working with her. I would train for no more than 2-5 minutes at a time. Be patient with her. Happy clicking!

  • Thank you for you question. I admit, it would seem a bit odd to reward outside of the crate. I have a couple of reasons for doing this. 1) in the beginning, I am teaching Briley to go into the crate. I toss the treat outside to set her up to go inside again. 2) I want her to offer the behavior of going into the crate on her own. I don't want to bribe her by tossing the treat inside. 3) she gets to go at her own pace. This dog HATED her crate. But during her training, I never made her go any far

  • Sorry that cut me off and I didn't know it.

    Let me continue:

I never made her go any farther than she felt comfortable. If I had tossed treats, she may have gotten anxious having to step into the crate to get them. 4) Once she was comfortable going in and out, I delivered treats inside the crate to promote duration inside the crate.

There are always multiple ways to train anything. I'm sure that giving them in the crate would be fine. This is what works for me!

  • I am a bit old school with dog training I am still rather new to the whole clicker idea I was wondering why you reward the dog for leaving the crate?

  • @webwolf404 See post above. Sorry, I was typing on my iPod. Not great for this sort of thing! Thanks for your question.

  • What breed is that?

  • You showed and taught me more with no sound that these "trainers" on youtube only showing me what a crate does!

  • Cool! Very helpful. This is one of the better dog crate videos there are, no sound makes it better for some reason. Thanks!

  • this was exactly what i was looking for. awesome video, (even without sound)! :)
