This is the tenth in a series of videos which will follow the progress of the conversion of a Holden Barina (Suzuki Swift) to electric drive.
This video shows the making of the coupler which connects the motor shaft to the gearbox input shaft. This coupler makes use of part of the original clutch plate so as to take advantage of the springs. There are 32 high tensile screws holding the modified/reduced clutch plate to the newly manufactured coupler. The coupler is made from high quality steel - the type which crankshafts are made from.

  • the 10 thousand bolts holding the plate on seem like overkill, but i am amazed at the job you did. i am trying to figure out how i will connect my motor to my transmission, and your video has helped a lot. thanks!

  • Thanks for your comments. The holes were in taht part of the clutch plate, so we used all of them all. It spreads the load nicely.

  • Can't imagine what that great machining work would cost where I live. I see in other videos guys making some pretty rough (although functional) stuff but this is the prettiest machining work I have seen.

  • Looks great!
