I made this video of a safety announcement on a Vietnam Airlines flight. After a few flights on this airline I noticed that the English and Vietnamese versions of announcements sounded somewhat similar when said with a Vietnamese accent and it made me smile each time I heard one. I thought it was cute and it made me smile, so decided to share it. As some of the people who have commented have noted, we all have accents when speaking a foreign language ... it is not good or bad, it just is. The video is not meant to be racist, or offensive ... just sharing something that made me smile in the hopes that it may give you a smile too.

  • Who cares about English? Learn Vietnamese!

  • It's safety issue at hand. Imagine if she were to be tasked to give out evacuation orders via the PA system, and not all passengers can understand her, it will certainly be BIG trouble. I think everyone here must realise that as long as English remains the international language and the language used in aviation, all personnel working in the field MUST speak intelligible English. We are certainly NOT talking about English supremacy or condemning any other nationalities. :)

  • Yeah! Engrish! I love hearing it. It makes me smile, too! I like the directions I got for noodles once. It kept saying "doodles". XD

  • That english was horrid i couldn't understand a word of it.

Dman if they can't speak english use a pre recorded message in english.

  • no such Engrish

  • lol i know both so dnt really matter to me(: but they should get someone to speak english for them bcuz its for safty issues

  • @kevini15 I know xD Some of them sound really funny like my cousin, she always add a 's' at the end of every word and some adults i met said 'd' instead of 'th'. But the new generation today learnt English at a very young age so their speaking is really good, yet their grammar and spelling is worse than the previous generation. The kids i met in the english center even communicate in english and speak to adults in english too, like they were some foreigners

  • @trulysquare some people in vn know grammar and spelling but how they speak the words out ... TERRIBLE EVEN HELLO

  • she love you long time
