Another test of my setup - this time borrowed an LCD TV to test a GamePlay vid - hopefully this will record spot on! :D

  • Well unfortunately im an impulse buyer - I knew what I wanted so basically hunted around for who locally had stock... Picked it up from Currys in the end for £189.99... The only problem I've had so far is getting the Speccy +2 to work - can't seem to get any sound out of it... :(

  • Quite a coincidence that the exact same TV should pop up here and atari-forum! Where did you get it? If you didn't get it from Richer Sounds, it's probably best if you don't look at how cheap it is there! ; )

Looking forward to seeing that vid!

  • My main research was on the clarity of the screen - I also made sure it had all the inputs needed - RF, Scart, HMDI etc so in theory it should be possible connecting most consoles/systems... Im uploading a PS1 gameplay vid tomorrow and the setup does look spot on now so im pleased with the purchase and would happily recommend this to other gamers... :)

  • I assumed your research had more of a 'classic gaming' slant. Great that this TV gets good reviews from standard users too.

Often, modern TVs don't like the signal from old systems, you get ghosting or artifacts, and sometimes flicker, making them ugly, or in the worst cases, unplayable. On Atari-Forum, this TV has been recommended by Atari ST users (one of whom has tested many sets), and they have confirmed that other machines also look great on it.

  • Yes its an awkward one matey - im now using the new 19" LCD to record the GamePlay vids and then swapping the RF to the big CRT when I just want to sit and play the games myself... Its a bit of a faff but its either that or do it all on the CRT and get shitty GamePlay vids which as you can tell was irrirating the hell out of me... lol

  • God I loved (and love!) this game, so many memories as a kid. Awesome music. Desperate to get the jap version- The Super Shinobi. Cracking vid marcus and tv looking good. I'm gonna need to find a solution for recording on my CRT as much prefer playing the games on that (retro factor!) and only LCD I have is my Sony 40" in loubge. :-)

  • Well if you're ever in the area then feel free... lol

  • i just want to give your tv a hug!
