Welcome to another video tutorial from MattHawkins.co.uk.

In this tutorial I will demonstrate how to quickly join multiple AVI files together using VirtualDub.

VirtualDub is a brilliant free application for carrying out various video editing tasks.

It is great for splicing together AVI files and I use it a lot to join miniDV camcorder footage and XVID files created with CamStudio. It can be used to join all sorts of multipart AVI video files including DivX and XVID.

This technique is also useful for creating combined movie files to upload to YouTube.

There is a web version of this tutorial on my site here :
http://www.matthawkins.co.uk/item-99.html

Note: This technique can not be used to join AVI files that contain Variable Bitrate (VBR) MP3 audio.

The clips you join together must also use the same codec, resolution and frame rate.

  • thumbs up for google chrome

  • @Hant420 well spotted. I use Chrome for tutorials because it is easier to strip back the interface to the bare minimum!

  • Thanks! Worked great! :)

  • @dominusnile1 Glad it helped. VirtualDub is a great little tool to have in your collection.
