Think about it, Suicidal Munchkin shows us he has the hanging vid on an original vhs tape that appears to be authentic. However, now we know his video was definitely edited. Isn't it possible that the hanging munchkin that people saw on a video tape of Wizard of Oz was this same hoax? Couldn't this all have been some prank, recorded onto vhs years ago? And isn't that more likely than a person hanging themselves on a major movie without any records, anywhere and no reports to the police? The only version of the hanging munchin video has been proven to be a fraud, it's as simple as that.

ALL FACTS-

-They did reshoot scenes during production of Wizard of Oz
'Principal photography concluded with the Kansas sequences on March 16, 1939; nonetheless re-shoots and pick-up shots were filmed throughout April, May and into June, Judy Garland had to be brought back one more time in order to reshoot' (Wikipedia)

-The bird is on the original vhs version of Wizard of Oz
-Zapdungaa unboxes his original vhs ('84) in his youtube vid and it has the bird.(video titled proof positive there was no hanging munchkin)
-Suicidal unboxes his original vhs ('85) in his youtube vid and it has the hanging (video titled wizard of oz riposte)
As there is only one version of oz before '89, this means one version must be fake and it also proves the story that 'the bird was edited in on the remastered version' is false

-No such death was ever reported to the LAPD (LAPD death records up to 1939)

-There are no records of it happening anywhere, despite the fact that it aired unchanged for 50 years (any records, anywhere)

-It is easily researched that they used birds from the LA zoo in the background and that the bird in question is a crane, this information can be found in many sources (The munchkins of oz' book by stephen cox, The telegraph, wikipedia, bbc, mgm)

-It was easily possible to take a video, edit on computer then record it onto vhs tapes (people who think you cant edit vhs are strange)

That is a list of facts backed up by evidence, all I hear in support of the hanging video are just stories, without a single thing to back it up. Only that vid which has been proven as fake.

  • In 1989 my sister rented this movie on VHS for the sole purpose of seeing the hanging person, that's when the story started, when it came out on VHS. We watched this part of the movie over and over and this is indeed what was EXACTLY on the VHS tape. I almost went out and bought the movie just for this reason but didn't. Now I wish I had.

  • @Celidus Yeah, if you had this exact same video, then that proves that this hoax was recorded onto vhs tapes by someone. I dont know who did it or why but theres no denying it has been edited after watching my video

  • great vid, never believed this myth (and to be fair to both sides of the argument it just looked like a freaking blob moving to me on vhs lol) glad to see someone with hard evidence its a fake, anyone who cant see it for themselves...well just wow lol

  • maybe the bird ate the munchkin and that's why no one ever found the body

  • I knew that guy was an idiot.

  • @fallentwig I was referring to the crane - I was wishing I had bought the tape just so I could see it again. On the original VHS tape I remember seeing a ladder being kicked over then the swinging part. But that was in '89 with a 19" color TV - That's why I wish I had the VHS tape.

  • @KawaiiGirl104 Your argument is simply that you had the munchkin video when u were younger. I'm aware it is on vhs tapes, but its a hoax, if u saw this exact same video then you saw a fake video on vhs. You say you have editing experience, I cant believe u cant see that its been edited up to those 2 trees, those wings are so clear, they are in mid air, its the same frame as the bird stretches to at the same point. one video is sharper as its dvd

  • @KawaiiGirl104 The only reason the 2 vids look different is because the bird version is from the dvd. The crane is not in the same place as the munchkin, the munchkin is off to the right, they have put it in the clearing. Those 'pixels' poke out slowly from behind the tree, they are too big and move too deliberately to be pixellation and at the same frame its where the bird stretches to, both wings appear behind 2 trees, I show the bird vid to show he stretches at that exact time

  • @fallentwig I've been editing for years, and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to just little, itty-bitty pixels. I see a sliver of subtitles, I flip a b****. I had a version of this movie that was an official release (my mom even checked it over and over again to make sure) and I swear to God it wasn't a crane there. VHS, btw. I never had the DVD version, because when I was 5, VHSs still existed. I can't go and check now, because I don't have the VHS any more, but I'm sticking to my belief.

  • @fallentwig Okay. You gotta remember that, in 1939, the quality of videos wasn't the best, audio or video. I believe that it was pixel error. Plus, the wing goes more pixels further than the "edited" version you showed.

The crane being different says that it's nearly impossible for it to have taken the place of a swinging-back-and-forth munchkin.

And they are in the exact same place. It is TEN TIMES easier to edit stuff out than putting stuff in. Why waste the extra effort?

  • @KawaiiGirl104 Hang on, the bird and the munchkin are not even in the same place. Its not like they have covered the bird with the munchkin. The bird has simply been edited out, by copy and pasting the image of the bottom of the 3 trees over the bird. If u've edited b4 then u'll know wot i mean. But they have only edited up to the edge of that tree, so when the bird stretches past that tree, its wings appear in the hanging video. It's so obvious, I cant believe you cant see that

  • @KawaiiGirl104 fyi, they didnt use a green screen. This video clearly shows at the exact same frame the bird stretches to, both its wing tips appear in the exact same places. Its not one wing tip it's both, and u can check the positions of the actors to tell its at the exact same frame. Why is the crane being different from the munchkin important? Someone has simply edited out the bird and put a hanging munchkin in, the wing tips that were missed by the editor proves this
