@V1kingErik It doesn't sound like you knew when Crackerjacks were not part of the seabag in the late 1970's (per CNO) that I believe MrAirportsteve was referring to. Beards were allowed then too.
@V1kingErik Oh its not that big of a deal, of course I'd wear them. Just stating a personal preference. I understand the whole revamping of the uniforms to reduce the amount in a sailors seabag, and reducing the need to replace other more often. Like I said, just a personal preference that was brought up due to another persons comment. In the end, it isnt that particular uniform your wearing that matters, its why your wearing it, and it is to serve my country. No need to be nasty....
Nice to see GMs still put the pads in the wrong spot, the shell landed no where near them...hahaha. Use to tick me off when it chuncked out all the nonskid.. :) I was on the old Spruance class USS Caron DD-970
@Kyousuke687 If you don't want to wear the Cammies, don't join! Again, another person who doesn't know what's going on. Don't worry, as a Junior Officer, I'd train you how to correctly wear all the uniforms.
@MrAirportsteve You are obviously not up to date on the current uniforms. We have not gotten rid of Cracker Jacks. We got rid of Johnny Cashs and summer whites. Don't comment if you don't have a clue.
@TDPMcGovern I completely agree about the ship and the uniforms. But, supposedly the uniforms' main function as well is to help hide dirt and oil stains better, as well as not needing to be ironed. Id personally be willing to deal with the ironing and the occasional uniform replacement lol. Im planning on joining as an Officer within the next two years, and I would much rather have been rockin the working khakis over the new camo shit lol.

Why does it look like there is a chunk missing from the bow on the port side?

The new uniforms suck. Like when they made us give up the cracker jacks for the stupid suit and tie! Give me a Dixicup and dungarees.

The acu's are to help you blend in with the ship so as to not be seen by the "enemy" and wearing khaki's would make you a target.
