  • hey. i want to try a join up.my horse was beaten at a young age and he really makes it not easy to get his trust. i have two questons about join up because i dont want to make any mistakes.

1: while i am doing the whole driving him away from me thing shall i look him in the eyes? or should i advoid doing this?

2:is it possible that he trys to attak me while i drive him away from me? an what shall i do if this happens?

  • @valerie55schokokeks

hey in answer to your first question I wouldnt no, keep your eyes on him but dont stare him directlyin the eye and to the second if he comes for you which is very unlikely make sure you are dominant and stand your ground and chase him back out, it is very unusual for a horse to actually intentionally cause physical harm without a very good reason, just be persistant.

  • i have a gelding who was beaten at a young age, he's really nervous will this scare him when you send him away with the whip/lunge rein?

  • @JJlanceandgoldie no it shouldnt scare him but will confuse him, the whole idea is for the horse to see that you are NOT his enemy or a predator and no predator try to chase its prey away from it :) if he has been damaged in the past then prepare to persavere as all hoorses take longer to realise and accept you. Hope this helps

  • How often should you do join up?

  • @parellijumper99 there is no recommendation, whenever you please x

  • I have a little cob and he finds it very hard to trust me as he had a bad past because was abandoned. He is broken but he won't stop trying to get back to my other horse. He would completely ignore me and walk straight back into the field. Next spring I play no do bait of work with him.. Can join up help him trust me go I can get a better bond with him and ride him with pleasure instead of worrying he's going to run back to my other horse.

  • Heyy,, I have this horse and she hasnt been ridden n three years,, and shes a real bitch haha she kicks and bites and when you ride her, her ears are back flat CONSTANTLY(sigh) oh and she bullys the other horses in the stable... Do you think join up will fix her attitude problems too(pleeeease say yesXD)

  • Would this work with a mini?

  • hey, i tried join up with my horse today but could only get him to trot, every time i tried to get him to canter he just bucked and kicked out and trotted again, what am i doing wrong?

  • Does horse meat taste good?

  • I tried it with two different horses. It perfectly worked!!The moment of join up was wonderful!! One of the horses was a little bit afraid of me at first, because he din't know me,but then he started to trust me,and followed me.It was amazing!! I could not approach him with the saddle in my hands, but after the join up, he let me saddle him up!!You are amazing Monty!!Thank you for sharing your method with us!!

  • i have a 6 year old gelding who was beaten not too long ago (obviously not by me!)

and since then i have not been able to play in the field with him, run up or down the fence with him or even lunge him, as he will run towards me and try to kick out! if i try being dominant to him he just gets worse! i really want to try join up but i know hes just going to try kicking me again! this only happend last year, he has gotten better as i couldnt put a whip anywhere near him and now i can ride with one

  • Hi, i just have 2 questions.

1: is there any specific way we have to stand, if so how?

2: What happens if the horse makes the signals and you try to get them to follow you, and they don't, what do you do then?

  • thats the princess of norway, the woman;D she had a serie on TV called a horselife where she met horsewispers and people with disabilitis that had horses and worked perfectly with them... like this one girl who was blind...

  • I want to learn this! its amazing!

  • hello, i have a question too...at first, sorry for my bad english :D i hope you understand what i mean...if i would make a join up, should the horse lope the whole time?

  • @valerie55schokokeks

I am not the creator of this video but I am a very experienced horse rider and have had experience with join up.

    1. Yes you should keep very good eye contact and when you turn your shoulder to the horse your horse should stop and turn to face you.

    2. Your horse may try to turn into you but your horse will be sent out again if you do not show fear and try to sort of scare him out with your hands.

    Good luck!

  • @twilightandMilliex

it works with mine but if you don’t have a round pen like me it is trying for you and may take a little longer

  • @Maraiha1 Yes, because as well as trust he learns that you become the leader in most cases.

  • I'm trying to retrain a Canadian Horse gelding (i believe he is probably about 10 years old). He doesn't get ridden very often so he's a little fresh. Sometimes when I lunge him, he'll turn to face me and come into my space. When I try to send him away into the direction I want, he goes into the opposite direction. Most of the time he listens to my directions, but other times it seems like he wants to understand, but he doesn't know how. What can I do to remedy this?

  • My horse doesn't respect me that much and always try to test me. Could the join up help us gain some respect?

  • Hi there,

I have a 20 year old gelding. He trusts me a bit but he doesn't like it when i try to bring him in from the feild. Will join up help him to over that stage? Thanks great video

  • to jest piękne!!!!kocham pana panie Roberts,to magia!!
