While moving through The Derelict in mission 8 (Rampart) you'll reach the main control room and find the body of a Space Jockey in the centre. Once you've dispatched all the enemies, aim for its head and keeping shooting it there until a holographic recording begins playing.

This looped projection shows The Derelict in a pitched space battle with an unidentified circular ship, which leads to the craft crash-landing on LV-426 and coming to rest at its current location.

That "saucer" like ship is of the same type we saw in the very beginning of Prometheus (that was leaving Earth as the "sacrifice" Engineer killed himself. This isn't just an Easter Egg - Ridley Scott invited the developers over. Although the the game itself is pretty bad and this doesn't show much, the fact that have two Engineer ships fighting each other is something. I never believed that Prometheus was black and white: was it an Engineers civil war faction that wanted humans destroyed?

Scott briefed Gearbox back when it was a direct prequel to Aliens instead of a Prequel in the sense it took place before Alien and featured the same Aliens as the Space Jockey.

I never thought of that. That is possible. That explains why the engineers ships and clothing looked different from the beginning and rest of the movie and Alien.

Maybe the Saucer ship shot down the Derelict because of a risk of possible contamination.

This is obviously contrived - apparently, as a means by which to tell me I shouldn't "yell". Well, I wasn't "yelling" - so your conclusion is just wrong.

Where that's the case, every single thing you have to say that is based on that conclusion, must be meaningless.

That you consider Prometheus to be a joke along with a tie-in like this in the game is your thing. You don't have to like everything - that's cool - but don't go yelling at other people that "lolz its a joke like the new movies a joke!".

That's where you're wrong - it is a joke. I know Scott briefed Gearbox - so what? The result was so poor he may as well have not bothered so what does say about his stupid "Briefings"? Same goes for Prometheus, which is nothing to do with the direction it took and everything to do with the Direction it didn't get. The movie was a pile.

Wow, you sure have a negative view of things, don't you. No, it's not a joke. Ridley Scott did invite Gearbox over; the details (as much about Aliens: Colonial Marines development) are unknown, but he did brief them up with the Prometheus script. It is lazy looking, but it is not nonsense (that is, unless you don't like the direction that Prometheus went - fair enough; but that's just you). There's a lot of discussion going on about this ship vs. ship thing.

It's just a joke - they're flying around shooting gigantic, out-of-scale cannonballs at each other with a boom-boom noise?

It might have better if it was Prometheus of the Caribbean but it isn't just, so calm yourself and stop reading so much into all this nonsense - it's just so much garbage.

An Alien franchise that could have had any genuine meaning was slaughtered for cash, long, long ago. Now, they're just milking the corpse, before it rots.
