The history of Israel is Temple centred and focused. The 70 weeks of Daniel started with the decree to rebuild the 2nd Temple. Presently the Temple Mount is still occupied and is being trodden by the gentiles, therefore 1948 and the political revival of Israel has nothing to do with the 'budding of the fig tree'. When the 3rd temple will be built...that will trigger the budding of the fig tree and ' that this generation shall not pass away' and within 40 years Lord would return!

Hmm, it seems as though I have completely overlooked 'all of the tress' and didn't make that connection. God is clearly using you Richard. This is something else man, I read that scripture over and over and missed it over and over.

@EricShermansChannel You should be more careful and study more. Don't be one of the blind leading the blind.
But if some of the branches were broken off, while you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among them to share the richness [of the root and sap] of the olive tree,Do not boast over the branches and pride yourself at their expense. If you do boast and feel superior, remember it is not you that support the root, but the root [that supports] you.Romans 11

As usual Richard ,Well Done !
Something the Lord opened up to me this week from Daniel 8
'And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, ' The leaves are full, the leaven has done it's work.
We can look around and see that 'the transgressors have now come to the full' having filled up God's cup of wrath and it is being shaken by quakes and spilled out. in coming wars, famines and pestilence.

I have read the Bible thru once completely and am on my second trip. What I found most difficult was trying to interpret the stories Jesus told.

@mcap52 - I have found that many of Jesus' stories and teachings are references to Old Testament writings. The parable of "the Fig tree and all the trees" is a good example. What Jesus was talking about is found in Joel chapter 1. This type of reference by Christ happens more often than most Bible teachers know.
