@monadasmoinas That's correct. There was actually the case where Jimi lost the master tapes to Axis Bold as Love in a cab, and they had to re-record everything. There is a rumor that Jimi might've thrown the master tapes away, because everyone was aware of his dislike of the album. He was forced by management to put out a second album to ride the wave of fame they had from the first album 'are you experienced.'

I agree though. Axis Bold As love is a masterpiece of an album.

Great interview mate,just my 2 cents,I reckon knowing how high his standard/expectations where(its hard to think of anyone higher)he might have been a tad to critical on him self?you know what I mean?He comes across as very humble and self criticle,obviously Electric Ladyland is a masterpiece,regardless of loosing the finale tape in the cab,he mastered it with Krrammer,whoever touched it after that is a nob but the arangement is unserpassed

I recon some artists have some dont...if Jimi hadnt been pushed, the result could have been disapointing...even though we know he was very much behind the electric ladyland album, I believe it was a good thing someone took care of the mixing. Look at the film done when Glenn Gould had to play piano, you notice how much he had to be framed, and the result is outstanding. Unfortunately, are there many films done while recording with Jimi ?
