In the 1960s, the Russians copied the Imperial (badly) for their state built limosine the Zil.

I'm still hurt that Chrysler didn't build that proposed Imperial. They say it was emissions, though I still think it was lack of support from DaimlerBenz.

If you noticed on the left side of the dashboard, you would have seen the pushbuttons for the transmission. 1964 was the last year for the pushbutton automatic transmission. This is one of the most beautiful cars ever built in this country. No car made in this country today, compares with the beauty of this car. American car companies today only want to build ugly cars, like the new Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300. And your Cadillac sedans.

Because this car was shipped to Italy and built by the coachbuilder Ghia. Even the solder joints that you cannot see under the car were hand-finished and polished.

NICE CAR
So why can't American car companies build cars like these anymore?

Those were the days when limos were so much more respected than todays junk. Then when we slowed down and glanced to see if there was someone special riding in it. Limos were exclusive
and privately owned. Today any punk high school kid can rent them for parties or what ever. Their not limos today their just custom made party bus boxes. They look ridiculous and could never have the amazing interiors imbedded with that kind of quality and finery. Just beautiful.
