"the Bantu type, which is little else than the West African Negro tinged in varying degrees with the results of Hamitic intermixture"

Quotes from 3 different racists of the early 20th century that shows Guns, Germs and Steel to be flawed

Perry Noble:

"Of the group of Negro languages centering upon Lake Chad, the Hausa has become the most popular, and has traveled farthest.

Through large districts on both sides of the Binwe and Niger rivers it is invaluable as the circulating medium of thought. In extent of usefulness it surpasses all other single languages in inner Africa. It serves not only as the mother-tongue of fifteen millions of Negroes, but as a lingua franca between Sudanese tribes of difierent tongues, and even as a world-speech between Sudanese and Mediterranean Africa, It is remarkable for simplicity, elegance and wealth of vocabulary. It ranks among man's imperial languages—the Latin of Central Sudan—magnificent, rich and sonorous, beautiful and facile in grammatical structure; exhibiting a harmony in its word-forms, and a symphonal symmetry that few tongnes can equal."

"The redemption of Africa" By Frederic Perry Noble

"Reclus has shown that thousands of years before Islam the Negro had shared in civilizing work: "From remotest antiquity Africans, even beyond Egypt, took part in man's triumphs over nature . . . The civilized world is indebted to the natives for several domestic animals. Even in industries Africa has contributed to the inheritance of mankind. The monuments of Egypt can not all have been the work of the Rotu [Egyptians] alone. Among the products of Egyptian industry are frequently recognized forms recurring in Nubia and Sudan. Smelting and working iron have been attributed to the Negroes. The Bongo as well as other African tribes constructed furnaces of very ingenious type. The tribe was acquainted with the art of minting. Among the Ogowai Fans bits of iron are current coins in common use"

"As a farmer the Negro is more efficient than the Chinese and the Hindi. Selous credits him with building the structures at Simbabye and with working the Shuna gold=mines. Negro dexterity in the practice of a new handicraft is remarkable. His precocity in book=learning is equally great."

"The Negro heads the list. He presents himself in two vast regions, and, perhaps, in two branches. If we accept the distinction between the Sudanese Negro and the Bantu, we find the Negro proper in vast Sudan, the Negro-like Bantu south of the tenth parallel of north latitude. Of these twin brothers, the Bantu is generally rated above the Sudanese; but not a few authorities think more highly of the latter, and much by historians and scientists is adduced in his favor."

"Africa" By Ethlyn T. Clough 1911

"In Southern Africa the true negro is not found, and from the Equator to the Cape the continent is mainly populated by the various negroid branches of the great Bantu-speaking stock. .... The Bantus are distinguished for their fine physique, notably in the case of the Zulus. Many of them are handsome, even from the European standpoint, with aqueline features and sometimes a complexion not darker than that of Southern Europeans. They -are a pastoral and agricultural people, breeding cattle in immense quantities, and cultivating cerials, principally mealies (maize) and Kaffir corn (millet). The Bantus are capable of a considerable degree of civilization, and their mental and moral qualities are higher than those of any negro race."

"The Uganda protectorate" By Harry Hamilton Johnston 1904

http://books.google.com/books?id=vyAUAAAAIAAJ&pg=PA890

"The Bantu languages, in fact, are rather more closely related one to the other—even in their extremest forms—than are the Aryan languages. This is so much the case that a native of Zanzibar can very soon make himself understood on the Congo, while a man of the Cameroons would not be long before he grasped the vocabulary of the Zulu. This interesting fact must play a certain part in the political development of Africa south of the fifth degree of north latitude. The rapidity with which the Kiswahili tongue of Zanzibar—a very convenient, simple, and expressive form of Bantu speech— has spread far and wide over East Central Africa, and has even gained a footing on the Congo, hints at the possibility of the Bantu Negroes at some future time adopting a universal Bantu language for inter-communication."

  • @Megaishat "Europoids" come from "Negroids." "Asiatics come from "Negroids", Etc., etc., etc. All people on African continent were black until albinos appeared, genetic mutation, and were separated from tribes. moving north. Their mixture w/other tribes and naturally occurring "light" people came to be the pink/pale peoples of world. If you read "From Babylon toTimbuktu" by Dr. Rudolplh Windsor written many years ago and still an excellent resource 2day, you'll learn about racial origins. Shalom

  • @2dasimmons No, they didn't start out as negroes. They are europoid race which developed independently from their common ancestor.

  • @2dasimmons Arent people from Libya white in Egyptian texts?

  • Whites are so crazy when it comes to their notions of Blackness. They define, which they really shouldn't from their perspective and confuse everyone. All these "African" people are "Negroes." Even then people in Libya and North Africa who are light-skinned started out as Negroes. Some Negroes have pointy, thin noses, some Negroes have broad wide noses, some have broad pointy noses and thin rounded low-bridge noses; some have kinky hair, some have curly, some wavy-straight and WITHOUT white mix.

  • They considered Hamites black now they wana say the Hamites are white so they kan steal are history

  • The full quote he gave which was a standard racist belief at the time

"the Bantu type, which is little else than the West African Negro tinged in varying degrees with the results of Hamitic intermixture (the Hamites being either a half-way stage in the evolution of a white man * from the Negro, or an invasion from Asia of a Caucasian people which ages ago mixed considerably with Negroes till it had acquired very marked negroid characteristics)."

  • different people had different opinions but in

"The Uganda protectorate" page 474 he believes Bantu were mixed with Hamites and had some white blood

I added a link to that at the top of the descriptions box

  • I think it could be possibly the way Tutsis were perceived by colonial powers superior to the others but then again not white, but I yes I get your point.

  • The guy who said that wanted to think Bantu were mixed with white blood
