Fledgling Spotted Flycatchers Fledging. There were five of them to start with and although I had my remote camera setup ready for the beginning of fledging two of them fledged as I walked past them that morning. (The nest was in a dissused wooden structure attached to the garage that we walked past every day).
So this video starts when there are three of them left.
It starts with one of the three thinking about going and practices his flying whilst still in the nest. He then jumps out of the nest to the left of the box. One of the parents then comes to feed him and remove droppings. He then flys off BACKWARDS, and a few seconds later hw flys past at high speed.
