Within 24 hours of President Obama's announcement of major US troop increases to Afghanistan, a coalition of anti-war groups on Dec. 2, 2009 assembled in Chicago's Loop (at Federal Paza) to denounce this move. This is now Obama's war, not a leftover from Bush's military policies. Speakers include Andy Thayer (Chicago Coalition Against War and Racism), John Beacham (ANSWER Chicago), Sue Eleuterio (Code Pink), Juan Torres (father of soldier killed in Afghanistan), Neal Resnikoff (Albany Park, North Park, Mayfair Neighbors for Peace and Justice), Ray Parish (Veterans for Peace), and Bob Clarke (Chicago Committee to Defend the Bill of Rights). One sign at the rally said it all: "So Much for the Peace Prize!" Produced by Labor Beat. Labor Beat is a CAN TV Community Partner. Labor Beat is a non-profit 501(c)(3) member of IBEW 1220.
