Nice upbeat number from 1966, featuring Gary Lewis, son of the comedian Jerry Lewis.

  • I was born in the 80s and i grew up listening to oldies like this and still do to this day.. where has real talent gone? Todays music is just about money drugs & hoes..AWFUL!

  • What most people don't know is that this the only truly American group that charted their first 8 hits in the Top 40! Simply amazing when you consider all the great groups that came out of the 60Ts! For that reason alone they should be in the R & R HOF! Like so many other great groups - Paul Revere, 3 Dog Night & the Moody Blues to name a few!!! Wake up Cleveland!

  • I heard this on 60s serius(SP) today and wrote the title down, Have not heard in a long time,, As soon as it started I said'' A symphony".. remember it when.. I was14 and just getting into music,.

    Still am into 60s...GS./

  • I was 2nd year college at UST when this song becomes a hit in PI. Garry got

married to a girl from this university.

  • The guy who wrote this nice, little song was Elvis Presley's Vegas and Touring piano player in the '70s! As for Gary, he still performs the number in concert.

  • love all of their songs!!!

  • i have just remembered "samanthas" ohhhhhhhh 17 years old "take me back" pleasssssssssssss

  • Is it just me, or does this song sound as if it might have been written and recorded in the1980's? Take someone about 40 years old, unfamiliar with Gary Lewis's oeuvre, and ask him/her if this sort of record was what they listened to when they were kids. I'll wager they'll ask who recorded it and when.

  • Happy Birthday Gary

  • @bryanstreek OK; the lyrics and vocals are a bit awkward, the editing a little sloppy (hence the nonexistent "skip" and quivering pitch) and whoever heard of a Hawaiian symphony anyway. But, with all that, the arrangement of the strings, the chord progressions and the beat make this record worthwhile, unlike, say, some Taylor Swift song with cheesy lyrics, dull chord progressions & rhythms, grating vocals AND no redeeming features. Even the bad songs were good, sometimes great, in the '60s.

  • @wilsondylanmccartney they should kill the guy that wrote it. Sums up all that was bad about 60's music.

  • never heard this before. I hope i never hear it again. Truly awful cute, bland, 60's pap.Did somebody say good lyrics? Please!
