Vintage Synths Vol 1 - PPG Wave
German synth historian Matthias Becker produced a CD series back in 1990 with tracks made with one synth only. The CDs were named "Synthesizers Von Gestern Vol 1/2/3". This track was recorded at Originalton West Studio / Köln.

@subby33 No! Depeche Mode used the PPG NOT very much! I have all the PPGs and I know all the possibile sounds.

Some PPG sounds are good, but I would prefer the Yamaha DX7.

@carriersignal: I don't care about analog or digital as long as the synth produces good sounds. There were many crappy analog synths out there, people tend to forget that.

The Dr Who adventure "Timelash" incidental music was played on a PPG wave by Elizabeth Parker. The sounds used are harsh and sinister. Hear it all on "30 years of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop" CD and on YT . Their PPG broke down later on.

Whether you like this synth or not, its sound was definitely a departure from that of the many analogues that dominated the music scene of the time. I think it had a welcome uniqueness that was only accompanied by CMI and NED. Please no flaming. I love analog, but I think everything has its place.
