미역국- korean birthday soup...

yeah well, i'm no maangchi... but this is a korean birthday soup i made for the boyfriend the other day. he just turned 37 :D its a seaweed soup called miyok guk. seaweed soup is traditionally eaten by korean women after childbirth. this soup is known to be rich in iron which is good for producing blood, which is what woman lose a lot of during child birth... anyways, since its associated to birth.. this soup is known to have on your birthday...

you should try sauteing (보까) the seaweed in sesame oil along with the garlic first, then adding the water.

hehe. i live w/ roommates but i was by myself at the time i was video taping it... and i felt kinda hurried or something... like i didnt want a roommate to walk in and look at me all weird... like whoa.. your cooking and you have a video camera on a tripod in the kitchen. what the heck.

even tho i know its nothing close to being professional, i still had fun making this..
