The GOPers have held themselves in the highest of moral regard. Turns out, they are just as human as everyone else. If they had stood on a platform of tolerance, instead of exclusion, Foley would have been put out, there would have been an investigation, prison perhaps, but in the end it probably would have been a non issue. Instead, they try and cover it up, and they turn out looking like liars.

No. Those with regard for morals hold themselves TO them, not IN them. It's about setting standards, not self aggrandizement. Those with no morals whatsoever are aware of this, yet don't want to acknowledge that actions have consequences, so they mock those who do whenever they screw up. Thus letting their horns show - their absence of compassion. In this case for the gay guy.

Thus, surfrider1980 sadly concludes that forcing the "self loathing hateful prick" (Liberal's new term for a guy that IM's an underling) to resign and launching an FBI criminal investigation is "justifying" his behavior.
