God, William Smith was just a beast on-screen. And Rod Taylor was a man's man. Wicked scene.

Soderbergh sent me :P

best fight ever.both rod taylor and bill smith can fight!!
not staged most actors& directors have never even seen a fight much less been in one(also reality generally does not sell, exception platoon), see bill smith & clint eastrwood to see an obviously phoney fight, check tarzan magnificet gordon scott & jock mahoney, both could fight

@FTWEVERYONE The best fight scene ever is Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris in The Way of the Dragon
-
1:43 -- you can see Rod Taylor's toup flapping about. :-D

@elfhermie @Bill @Smith being my FAVORITE actor is irrlevant to my comment about HOW This is the best Film fight scene ever. OBVIOUSLY you did NOT see @SHANE with Alan Ladd!
-
@FTWEVERYONE Because it's more real. Real fights are brutal, fast, and sloppy. This isn't a choreographed looking ballet like most fights today and it also isn't one of those fights where one guy stands with his arms downs and gets hit over and over until it's his turn to punch and then the other guy just stands there and gets hit. It's back and forth and simultaneous and messy and you can actually tell that the guys are tiring as they wold in real life. That's WHY it's one of the best!

Rumor has it that the Travis McGee series is coming back to the big screen...with Leonardo DiCaprio in the role! Oh no...despite my slowly-growing respect for the man, DiCaprio is NOT right for the role...why don't they get someone who at least LOOKS the part? If the film's producers want a big-name actor, why not somebody like Kevin Costner or Thomas Jane as McGee?

all these things are exagerated with time, how much of the fight was real for instance when he throws the lamp at the guy depending of the voltage it could have killed him right so it's dubious the whole thing, Falconetti won on points though that's what it looks like and great charater that terry bartel guy ''a mane devil''.
In the top 10 and better than most of the hack and slash fight scenes in recent years, that are poorly shot and edited and you get no sense of what is going on! Just the humble opinion of someone who worked as a professional stuntman, stunt coordinator and fight choreographer for 25 years...Me! :)

Not an official award but an acknowledgment from the Stuntmen's Assoc for a job well done! (There are some real hits in there!).
The story goes that Bruce Lee loved this fight scene and chose Robert Clouse to direct Enter The Dragon because of his work on this film. William Smith was an early choice for Roper, but because he was so huge, the role went to John Saxon! It would have been interesting to see Rod Taylor in that role!...Rod was always great when it came to screen fights!
