Author Martha Grimes speaks at the 2010 National Book Festival.

Speaker Biography: Although she is not English, all of Martha Grimes' Richard Jury novels take their titles from British pubs. "No, I'm not English, but nothing quickens my imagination more than a fog-bound moor, windy heath, river mist in an old fishing village and the names of British pubs like The Stargazey," Grimes has written. Martha Grimes is the New York Times best-selling author of more than 20 Richard Jury mysteries, as well as novels, poetry and short stories. After having her first poem published, she turned from poetry to mystery novels. In 1981 she published her first mystery, "The Man with a Load of Mischief." He newest Richard Jury mystery is "The Black Cat" (Penguin Viking). Grimes lives in Maryland.
