Kurosawa's Ran: short clip of castle attack

This short film clip is part of the stunning initial castle attack in Akira Kurosawa's Ran (translated as meaning Chaos). It is one of the Japanese director's greatest films, and is his samurai version of Shakespeare's King Lear. The clip demonstrates Kurosawa's impressive use of action choreography, imagery, backdrop and color in telling his story. And, likely the one of the hardest, most courageous stunt any performer had to endure: that of being knocked down by horse and rider, only to have to lie still while the cavalry rode over and around one's prone body.

they built a fully functional castle at the base of mount fuji and burnt it down...for a film. dedication.

yeah and in a top 10 fight scenes this was number 7 this scene in paticular. I love Akira Kurosawa's work
