Um grupo de alunos da Escola Vieira de Araújo, de Vieira do Minho, conseguiu no passado fim-de-semana, no Festival Nacional de Robótica, em Castelo Branco, o apuramento para o mundial de robótica, Robocup 2009. A equipa Rollbots, constituída por quatro alunos do Curso Profissional de Equipamentos Informáticos e dois professores da escola, participou na prova de dança robótica com um tema inspirado na natureza e nas belas paisagens de Vieira do Minho, tendo obtido na prova de dança um dos dois certificados atribuídos pela organização, para participação no mundial de robótica, que se realiza entre 29 de Junho e 5 de Julho em Graz, na Áustria.
Para a sua apresentação os alunos construíram dois pássaros robôs que através ..da programação dançavam sincronizados com o clássico passarinhos a bailar, num cenário que retratava uma paisagem natural do concelho de Vieira do Minho. Na sua apresentação um dos alunos trajado de pássaro interagia com os robôs numa coreografia que despertou o interesse do júri e do público.
Trabalhamos muito, mas valeu a pena, desabafava Marco, um dos alunos, enquanto lembrava a noite que passaram sem dormir, a resolver um problema que surgiu à última da hora com um sensor. O professor responsável pela equipa, .João Cunha, não esconde a satisfação e o orgulho pelos seus alunos. Confessa que. após três anos de participação obter o segundo lugar foi muito gratificante e lembrou que o apoio que recebeu da direcção da escola foi determinante para o sucesso. A participar pela primeira vez num evento de robótica, Hélder Mendes, professor de informática da escola Vieira de Araújo, confessa que o bichinho da robótica já o atingiu e quer voltar no próximo ano.

A group of students from the School Vieira de Araújo, of Vieira do Minho, has in the past week-end in the National Festival of Robotics, in Castelo Branco, the clearance to the world of robotics, RoboCup 2009.
