We left Marvel Mystery Oil for 2 weeks in the cylinders and cranked the engine with the spark plugs out and the coil output disconnected to avoid compressing the oil in the cylinders. It cranks over just fine, don't hear anything unusual. I have a complete new set of spark plugs I'll try and put in soon to test the engine's running performance.
Sorry for wind noise but the wind blows constantly here!

  • when the warning lights are on i hear a very strange noise coming from the dash. What is that?

  • @AcaAllertor127 This is probably the air brake warning buzzer since there is no pressure in the air system.

  • u get it running yet

  • We're concentrating on getting the fields mowed with the tractor this weekend but hope to get back to the bus soon!

  • Nice bus, hopefully you'll be able to get it moving soon and also the windshield is the only other thing missing, and then you'll be able to take it down the road. I'm glad you still have historical school buses that are still running from pre-1987

  • Thank you! The bus does not have any glass at all in it except the door plus it looks like it needs all new tires so it may not be on the road any time soon but we will definitely get it running and drive it in the field.

  • God you gotta love them 80's international school buses with a low air warning that uses the actual buzzer

  • dnt the bus use pencils for cylinders? lol

  • @anthonynami2 or Fred Rogers

  • hey Chad, have you done anything more to this bus lately? i'm eager for an update^^

  • its eather a 304 or a 345.. not a 404

  • you sound like tht guy off tht show ruby

  • @2ndOfficerCHL International stopped making gas engines in 1986 I think, The key is EXACTLY like an older GM key!!! I had an '86 Jeep Cherokee with an ignition key like that!!

  • I didn't know International used gas engines in large vehicles like this as late as 1980. I would've thought it'd be a 466 i6 or a 444 v8.

Btw, that International key looks like a knock-off of a older GM key. Small, square-headed, and only toothed on one side.
