Energy Efficient Cars: What you Don't Know

There are six cars built in America that get more than 35 miles per gallon... but Americans are not allowed to buy them.

I don't wanna be offensive or hurt anybody but if an American's idea of energy efficient is 35 mpg then, I'm scared. Your average European family car does 40 mpg, no hybrid drive, not some dodgy Prius or anything, just a normal, family car. Energy efficient is 70 mpg.

the oil companies run the world along with the cia.they don't fuel efficient anything! 2007 is the peak production year for oil,and the supply is running out,so the usa is being scammed with high gas prices.all politicians are crooks! f em all! there were electric cars in 1910?!!!! standard oil killed all electric cars etc.politics as usual! the iraq war is about us trying to steal the oil! us government sucks!

Actually the new diesel motor are much cleaner then petrol (gas) engine. Check latest diesel engine from Peugeot.

this is bs and completely misleading. they get 35 mpg, but they are diesel engines, diesel is extremely toxic, and that's why they don't pass the emissions test. good diesel cars can get 60 mpg, i think a VW golf can do that. gas, as dirty as it is, doesn't have as bad emmissions as diesel cars.

it's bullshit. they are fully allowed to sell diesels in USA. indeed they do!

it's just that A) they don't think you want them and B) diesel is still fossil oil and not an actual solution. it's complete bullshit.

all cars could be made much more efficient, the douche bags are the car makers. and you the ignorant people for not demanding better. and gov for not forcing the stupid evil automakers to do the right thing. what we need is electric cars. not bs diesel

the efficiency of an internal combustion engine is only 25% at best, Electric is in the high 90's. Im with Chris on this.

In the late 90s GM had the EV1 which use no gas at all. Ford, Toyota and Honda had electris cars too until the Auto Industry faught the Califronia Air Resourse Board with the help of Bush and won. Find the movie "Who Killed the electric Car"

Ever notice Efficiency, not spelled right, gives an insight into how much people care? Imagine a War of Attrition, where resources are scarce. An M1-A1 won't last long with a jet engine. Neither with a Humvee.
