  • Ask the railroads? Here's how it is, folks: The nation's railroads operate on their own property. Heavy commercial trucks operate on public roads, on which they are the chief, overwhelming damagers. A standard 18-wheeler operating at its maximum legal weight inflicts pavement damage equivalent to 9,600 automobiles -- yet the trucking industry pays less than one-third of annual money taken in by the Federal Highway Trust Fund. In short, taxpayers pay trucks to endanger them on their own roads.

  • I have to agree with what he is saying about training requirements. They are inadequate, and have become more so throughout the years. As a truck driver of 14 years, and a mother of two, I really must call bull s#&%! In 14 years of driving a tractor trailer, I have NEVER been allowed behind the wheel of a truck PRIOR to the company receiving a NEGATIVE drug screen result. I must ask, however, how many CAR drivers are drug screened prior to driving their cars?? It is a PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT.

  • Ask the railroads, who are the big financiers behind these campaigns, just how many people they've killed...
