Full time waitress competes in PBA Women's Open.
It all started four years ago after a bad day at work.
Stacy Lynn Washington, now a 40 year old mother of four, decided to go bowling. Two years later, she decided that this was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. So Washington signed up to compete at the Professional Bowlers Association Women's Open in Romeoville, IL.
185 other bowlers from all over the country came to compete in the qualifying rounds of the Women's Open. Playing against the best, Washington placed 153rd with a 170.5 point average in the 32 games she played.
"It takes lots of hard work and persistence to get here and compete. You have to prepare for accuracy and be able to make quick adjustments so you don't fall behind. Right now I'm just proud to be here with some of the best," said Washington.
The rules for the PBA Women's Open were that the participants in the Women's Open qualifying played eight games a day from August 1st to August 4th, each day's games taking place on a different PBA Experience oil pattern. The top 16 then broke up into four different brackets for the Women's Open Championships. The top twelve women will join last year's four Women's Series winners and participate in seven PBA Women's Series events throughout the 2008 -2009 season.
"It's been phenomenal, an unbelievable experience, once in a lifetime thing," said Washington.
