Performed at Roodaki (Vahdat) Hall in Tehran 1385 (2006)
"Bia Saaghi, Bia Saaghi"
Founded in 2005 by Parvaz Homay, The Mastan Group has become one of the most prominent - traditional Persian music ensembles from Iran. Only in his 20's, Homay is part of a very special group of Musicians who writes his own lyrics, composes, sings, produces and mixes his music in Iran. His ensemble consists of eight highly proficient Iranian musicians. These young spiritual and talented Artists transmit their message of truth and unity through novel lyrics and music. They achieve this by refreshing the traditional and folkloric music and introducing a groundbreaking interpretation of classical Persian music and poetry.
Following the paths of the greatest Sufi masters Rumi and Hafez, the Mastan Group encourages its audiences to live consciously. They share the universal idea of striving for a creative life by flourishing love and peace from within. Gorooh e Mastan is perhaps the best thing has happened to Persian traditional music since Aaref Ghazvini of The "Iranian Constitutional Revolution era" of early 20th century.
Even the few songs, which are not written by Homay, have been chosen very carefully from the great poets of the past and present.
"It has been proven that today true spirituality can't flourish under an obligatory and restricted religious atmosphere. Ensemble Mastan" is trying to transmit this important message to their audience.

" Ensemble Mastan" is trying to refresh the Persian traditional music by introducing an active interpretation of music."

Come and put a kiss on my lips. I am hi, I am hi, Hi I am I am a drunken Hi, and like MJNOON wondering around and have nothing in mind except drunkenness. No Magic can save me but wine. I am restless, I am restless and would never leave leave wine worshipping drunkenness. I am hi, I am hi........
  • Part 2:

SAGHI pours wine in the cup as if she is emptying blood from a jar into a cup.

You and I were common friend for years, you and I had many common causes for years.

Now, strangers plot for our separation.

O, SAGHi, come and bring more wine that I am hi, that I am waiting at nights with desire.

O, bring more wine, bring more wine that wine revitalizes us, that wine rules our lives.

  • This is a fast translation. I try to make it more poetic later and put it as subtitle

    Part1:

I am Hi, I am Hi, Hi I am

I am a drunken Hi, and like MJNOON wondering around and have nothing in mind except drunkenness.

No Magic can save me but wine.

I am restless, I am restless and would never leave

    leave wine worshiping drunkenness.

Come SAGHi, Come, give me another cup that I am hi and I am waiting at nights with desire, I ma hi, I am hi.

  • (... continued). Let there be recorded history so no new generation is fooled that Islamic theocracy will be the answer. So that they do not love an Islamic Revolution that will not love them back. Especially if you are basiji, put videos of what your group does on youtube. Start being human again. I've lost "some" in this road, but some in the green movement have lost "all" (their lives). The green movement is about the power of the human spirit and this will never die. Do not give up.

  • (... continued). The buses keep coming, but none go to the right location. It's like being a solo island. No matter how good like gets, there is a sense of lonliness that does not fade. Time does not heal this pain. And what will come of our children here? I want all those who are in Iran to put as much of the injustices that happen to them on Youtube so the world can see what an Islamic theocracy is. Let there be recorded history so that when we are gone ...

  • Every time I listen to this beautiful music, I feel sad for myself. I think, how awful that my family had to leave Iran. How I have been robbed of a childhood with family's love, suffered through the immigrant life, did not get a chance to live in the country of my ancestors, with people who look like me, talk like me, etc. As an immigrant outside of Iran, I feel like I will never get roots here. That some how, I am always a traveler here waiting for the next bus that never comes.

  • @100neda

    Beautiful songs and music.

    all the best !

  • What do you mean that Persian people can or cannot drink alcohol? We have brains and make our own decisions. Some people drink it because they are not muslim, others drink it because they are muslim.

  • @yozpalang Khomar means half-drunk, the stage before you get drunk. I this song it should not be taken litteraly (only the poet knows the real meaning) but can be understood as a state of bewilderment or amazment for creation, god and/or a fellow human.
