This also shows that, given the chance, Billy Crystal could play some very creepy characters.

And about Billy Crystal's opening, yeah it's nothing short of brilliance. I believe it's one of the most memorable Oscar openings of all time other than Crystal's skit with Jack Palance & Whoopi Goldberg's African Queen.

And I think he mimicked Hopkins' Lecter accent well: "I'm having some of the Academy for dinner. Care to join me?" XD

I think SIlence of the Lambs remains one of the biggest films of all time. Just look at the Oscars records:

    - One of only 3 movies to win the Big Five Awards (Picture, director, actor, actress, screenplay)

    - The first and so far only horror movie to win Best Picture

    - Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor with one of the shortest (if not THE shortest) screen time of just 15 mins

I just watched the film, no wonder they say it's one of the scariest movies ever =D

Silence of the Lambs was such a huge film in it's day, it made a ton of money and got nominated for lots of awards and I think it swept the big ones, Best Pic, director, lead male and female. Such a clever and unexpected way to open. Kudos to Crystal and his writing team, people were laughing in the audience before he said a word, all they had to do was roll him on stage with that mask and the laughs started. Brilliant and simple.
