supposedly, this ir the original sequel to ring, but because its not a success, they made another, RING 2, which completely dumps RASEN's storyline...

as jojoyubari00 mentioned, this is the "original" sequel to Ringu 1

Rasen is released simultaneously with Ringu 1 but was film by a different crew, so the "feel" of Rasen is not connected to Ringu 1, so fans of Ringu 1 don't like this one..

hence, Ringu 2 is made the official sequel (which is MUCH MUCH better than Rasen).
