From a 1976 concert with James Benner at the piano. The beauty of this leaves me speechless.
There are some works of beauty that should be able to convince even the heathen of a higher realm than the patch of dirt we occupy. Even a slug must be moved by some level of greatness. Frances Yeend was a wonderful human being, kind, compassionate, empathetic. But beyond those admirable human characteristics, when she sang, she became a channel of truths unspeakable, of thoughts scarcely born, of levels of being far higher than earth. Not all artists have this ability. There are many who have beautiful voices, fine stage craft, excellent musicianship, but they are not channels of higher truth. It is as though higher levels of being decided to express themselves through Frances Yeend. To sense that is to be transported, to remember a deeper truth long forgotten. Through the human voice so used we remember an ancient song almost forgotten, and tears come for the happiness of reunion of parts of us split off long ago. We come together in the moment. When faced with such a gift we can only allow the tears to flow and say, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Oh please come again. Come again and take us with you to those heights from which such a channel must flow.
Excellent performance, infused with musicality and fine technique; too bad about the erratic sound quality.

This is the most moving rendition of this great song that I have ever heard. Frances and Jim together give a rendition that totally transports me into that other world of which Frances sings, and where she now truly abides. Thank you so much Frances and Jim for being channels of greatness. Thank you so.
