On Wednesday, January 18 Governor Snyder, who has presided in over one billion dollars in cuts to public K-12 Education, will give the State of the State Address in Lansing. The Lakeshore Education Caucus in conjunction with Oakridge Education Association are sponsoring a county wide picket at Oakridge Middle School at 5:30 to rally in support of Fair Funding for Public Education. We call on all teachers in the Lakeshore community, school board members, union members, parents and students who value public education to join with us and send a message to the Governor that We have had ENOUGH! The picket will last for an hour. Wolfies Pizza will be provided. And speakers will address the dangerous drastic education cuts coming from Lansing. Please join with us. Show Governor Snyder and Republican majority in Lansing, that we are ready and willing to do whatever it takes to support our students and the community which we teach. For more information go to http://lakeshoreeducationcaucus.wordpress.com/ or http://www.facebook.com/events/295521120485900/.
I guess the rally wasn't much of a success because now Mr. Wood is mad that more of his fellow teachers didn't join him in solidarity with his cause.

Why doesn't Pres. Obama just bail out the Oakridge schools? I thought his hope and change was going to fix everything? The president is more powerful than the gov of Michigan, right? This is so sad and troubling. Sec of Education Duncan just needs to come in and save the day. That's what we were all promised in 2008. Instead we are left to Mr. Wood and his crazy videos, web postings, and classroom rants. We are doomed!
