Jean-Michel Pilc (p), Thomas Bramerie (b) and Mark Mondesir (d) play "Widmung", a Schumann melody arranged by Jean-Michel Pilc, from his CD "New Dreams" (Dreyfus).
He's one of those guys we don't hear enough of in the UK - I heard him on a Jean Toussaint CD, playing the most interesting solo. Great stuff... need to see him live.
Jean-Michel Pilc is simply one of the great original talents on the jazz scene today. I had the good fortune to sit next to him one night in Philadelphia - what a left hand! If you get a chance to see this guy play...do it.
you can also enjoy his original composition "simplicity" in the same album, "new dreams". it's a stunning ballad...
