My second salad bowl banjo. This one has a goat skin head tacked on to a salad bowl hand cafted by a local wood turner, Ron Thompson. I also demo the banjo. Please be kind, I'm a beginner (a month ago I could barely bum-ditty).

The quality of the video isn't as good as I'd like. For better photos of this banjo, and more informaion on this banjo and others, go to http://deepcreekstrings.blogspot.com

  • Your right. A year and a half ago I was a beginner. If you're going to comment on my playing, though, you might want to view a more current video...much improved.

  • Sounds pretty good for a bowl... Like it!

  • Thanks. That gas can sounds pretty good too.

  • Wow that's a really awesome banjo. But I've got a feeling that you're playing a bit out of tune, but yet I understand how hard it is to play a fretless banjo.

  • Oh sure, you have a great salad bowl supplier. JK, that was a nice video, worthwhile watching. Especially like your use of bloodwood, not easy to handle but it looks like you nailed it. Thanks for posting! I just posted a short clip of my gourd banjo if you want to see it.

  • That's gorgeous construction! Hopefully it'd never happen, but could you conceivable change the skin without doing too much damage to the bowl (moving tacks &c.)?

  • How well does she hold skin tension?

  • that is awesome.

  • I want one!

  • sounds awsome and it looks great...the only flaw I could see is the thin headstock...there is really no meat there...I'm assuming it's sturdy as it is but will it really stay that way?

  • yeah..sounds good to me, and it is georgeous!nicely done
