Here is some pretty great footage of my Albino Cory Catfish. You will notice he has both of his eyes which is rare since they EAT EACH OTHERS EYES OUT!!! LOL! He is beautiful though and happy swimming around my 55 gallon tank. See more at http://www.freshwaterhobbyist.com!

  • Its often other fishes, particularly dwarf cichilds, take advantage of the cories slow movement and slow brain to take out its eyes

  • I agree, it is more likely a local Cichlid, or other aggressive fish that makes the mistake, or chooses to eat the Cory eyes. Corydora's area great fish, I am definitely a fan. Thanks so much for your comment!

  • I have 5 corycats 2 are albino and i have had the one for like 4yrs and they all have all of there eyes ive never heard they eat eachothers eyes

  • well.I don't know what to tell you.I have had it happen..I have personally owned three or four who had had their eyes eaten out.. I named one blinky because he had only one eye..then my other ate his other eye so he was blind.....and if you look at a tank of many, like 10 or more, you will almost always see one that has 1 or 2 eyes gone. Its not that they themselves ate them, maybe another fish did... what am I an albino cory detective? This species is often missing its eyes, you tell me why.

  • THEY DO NOT EAT EACHOTHERS EYES OUT! hehehhe lol They are very calm peacefull fish!

  • yes they are peaceful, but yes they do also eat each others eyes out. I have watched it happen. It happens specifically and only with Albino Cory's. The pink eyes against the white scales look like eggs..they don't do it because they are violent fish, its just a case of mistaken identity..

  • nope, cory is lovely & placid. i've got 8 of them & never see or hear about this eye eating.

  • Corys dont eat eachothers eyes out.

Other fish eat Cory eyes. For some reason Albino cory's are easier targets for this.

I have two Albino cory's in my tank right now which have had their eyes eaten out by my growing convict cichlids.

My brown cory's all have their eyes though.
