@bloobear007, The writer stated that it's not matching real life events all the time. They take the story to where they want it to make it interesting. Just like Nucky's real last name was Johnson in real life. If you noticed, Al Capone's real life is not exactly matching either, but it works in the show. It's great.
And maybe a series about Santo Trafficante in maimi, or the Westies in Hells Kitchen. all has to be based in the 70's-80's though. That would be very appealing, those periods were just so gritty and grimy. Oh, also a show on Roy DeMeo's crew....those guys were 'real' fucking animals. Talk about scary dudes, the most sick and depraved guys in Cosa Nostra history. Just finished reading Murder Machine, it's almost a cross between Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the Mafia. Hhhhuuuurrrrgghhh *SHUDDERS*
Actually Murder Inc. was technically instituted by Lansky who, along with Bugsy, planted many Jew thugs and killers in the gang. Lucky, then made good on his promise to Albert Anastasia to 'head up' the gang with Lepke. Murder Inc. was created by Lansky, while all Luciano supplied a couple of Italians to the crew. Lucky was mostly just a pimp, that was his biggest enterprise. I'd love for a mini-series to be made about Dutch and his gang, IMO the most interesting person in mob lore.
@jasondaman8 I saw Michael Stuhlbarg answer that question in an interview when asked if he really had made that shot or if it was all visual trickery. He said: "I had a wonderful billiards teacher, so that was really me. That shot wasn't particularly difficult. It's all geometry."
@Notawesomeatall7 Even Dutch Shultze worked for him. I'll put it this way, Luciano and Lansky also worked for Joe "The Boss" Masseria and Salvatore Maranzano. Both Masseria and Maranzano were killed by Luciano and his gang. But they didn't mess with Rothstein. That's how respected he was.
@Notawesomeatall7 Rothstein was with the Jewish Mafia, but Murder Inc. wasn't invented until later by Luciano after creating The National Crime Syndicate and The Commission. Murder Inc. was nothing more than several hitmen Luciano used for whackings among members in the family. But back to Rothstein, don't let his cool manner fool you. A.R. practically taught Luciano and Lansky most of the game.
