Just from how the set seems to be trying to start up but not succeeding, I'd bet there is a problem with the power supply. This really doesn't help you because this sort of repair isn't like changing a fuse. The problem is most likely capacitors in the high voltage (ie dangerous) power supply. If you're lucky the caps are the only parts that have gone bad. If you keep operating it like this, you'll eventually blow something else.

My tv does some what the same thing but only after I watch it for awhile then flickers. I also have sound, just screen mess's up.
