The new smoke sim tools being developed for Blender 2.50 are awesome. This is a test where I tried to make a sort of dry ice look. If you haven't I suggest downloading the newest 2.5 SVN from Graphicall.

Note: This is NOT realtime. The original recording time for this was about fifteen minutes.

  • how do you render

  • When I did this test, rendering (and even frame buffers) weren't integrated into the 2.5 build yet.

  • This is great! Does this mean that Blender will have a full-fledged particle generator in the near future?

  • If you mean smoke generator then yes. But, it already has particle generation.

  • So is it possible to create pretty realistic explosions with the current volumetrics setup?

  • Well, they're working on some more detailed fire tools, so the future for explosions looks bright. :)

But, this isn't volumetric. It's particle based. The sim physics branch which has volumetrics hasn't been merged with the 2.5 svn yet.

  • I cant seem to get the smoke to stay within the domain, it always just goes wherever and never stays inside the domain like its suppose to, am i doing something wrong?

  • Could you make a tutorial for it now that it is integrated?

  • Check out the video by nutelZ called blender smoke 3.

  • Really will happen in Blender 2.5?

That's will be great great great!
