Barack Obama is picking up popularity, not only in the USA but in Kenya. Kenyan comedy duo have staged a mock U.S. election in support of Barack Obama, who's father was Kenyan.
Long queues formed at the polling station and turn out was expected to be high.
But this isn't America - it's Kisumu in Kenya - the home of Barack Obama's father.
The men taking the votes are comedians.
Milton Obote and Lawrence Oyange organised the mock election to show support for a man they consider family.
[Lawrence Oyange, Comedian]: "The turnout is great, the lines are overwhelming and the boxes are full, if I am not wrong. I am not going to leak any information until we do the final tallying and voting. It's going to be a free and fair
election."
Obama enjoys rock star status in Kenya.
Babies are named after him, drinkers knock back "Senator" beers in his honour and pop stars sing his praises.
There's even the ultimate accolade "Obama: The Musical!"
[Milton obete, Comedian]: "Kisumu people don't like McCain because he didn't come to Kenya. Had he come to Kenya, we would have been voting for him by now."
Africans hope that having a local in the White House will mean more support for local development projects.
But there's no evidence that'll be the case.
They may need their sense of humour over the next few years.
i have a very pressing question... what does the 2163 signify ?
