They are essentially the female version of "The Rhythm Boys." No wonder Bing and Connee had those hits together.

I love how Connee sort of 'acts black' it's a lot of fun.

The Great Depression - WWII generation could do it all. Excellent!

Yes, it might be a bit of a novelty song. (Pop today tends to go for a catchy hook, too) Nevertheless, the Boswell Sisters made it swing. :)

I wouldn't call a song recorded and made famous by Louis Armstrong in the 1920's exactly a "novelty" song. It is possibly the first recorded example of scat singing and is considered a classic.

This is my first hearing of any other version of this song besides Armstrong's, and I must say, for a movie clip, it comes off quite well. These woman could sing jazz like no one else.

Yep, the song is considered important in the development of scat. But it's just intended to be a bit of fun. By the way, Louis Armstrong also premiered a song called "Jeepers Creepers" in the 1930s. Lyrics by the great Johnny Mercer, but it too is intended as something fun. The Boswell sisters did a great job Heebie Jeebies. Strip it down to the lyrics and it's just a pop tune with a catchy hook. Add the swing, and it's fun to dance to. Nothing wrong with that.
