i have shure srh840's and if those are better than the one i have the dear god they must be good, my brother's $500 beats don't compare
-
@LandOfTech No you don't really unless you want to try and squeeze more bass out of them

I bought the Shure SRH440 2 models down from this and i compared them to the beats. I wanted good build quality and crisp sound. Beats are battery powered, Shures aren't cause they aren't made for bass junkies. You get what you pay for with Shure and with beats... well you just pay for the brand.

If I buy this, would I absolutely need an amp?

@DJXTamed Thanks man you just got me to cancel my order for Dr, Dre Beat Solos and I'm getting the 940s (I won't only use them for my Iphone I'm gonna plug them into my bass amplifier and practice bass guitar.....silently ahha.
stop comparing the to beats... beats arent the only headphones out there

so ive been using the ear buds that came with the Iphone 4 and am wanting an upgrade to these or the SRH840s. I really only listen to all types of rock and nothing else. Like I said I don't use professional headphones so will these be a very good upgrade from the Iphone 4 ear buds for rock music?

@PAVI259 Yes! Shure headphones are great for all types of genres of music. Rock sounds great on these headphones and would be a great upgrade if you got the SRH 940's or the 840's. But, if you are going to use these headphones just with your iphone, I would probably go with the 840's they still have great sound quality, but obviously the 940's are better. All up to you man.
