  • @UltimateRailfanner Through freights may have to stay around the Columbia area due to crew timeouts, power issues, signals problems etc. I've seen this happen many times, day and night. NS Local H23 serves industries along the line along with the Middletown & Hummelstown on Tuesdays & Thursdays normally.

  • @shortlinebryan well this line only runs at night time. basically 95% of it does because of the amtrak connection in perryville. the only way u would catch a daylight train is to get really lucky of have a H/U from someone else.

  • The Port Road doesn't run much, if anything on the weekends. And since it connects with Amtrak at both ends [Harrisburg PA & Perryville MD], 95% of the consists run at night. NS 34A is usually one of the first trains through, close to 8pm.

  • nice catch! How often does this line run? I was there for close to 4 hours 1 sunday and didnt see a single train.
