"Sick In the System: New York Health Care Stories" is a documentary film appearing in Manhattan this summer. Directed by Brian Umana. Edited by Eric DeRise. Camera: Deborah Harse, Peter Helenius. Executive producers: Kym Blanchard, Andrew Davies, Amy Miller, Brian Umana.
This sequence highlights one of the most significant problems with health insurance today: the company's ability to question doctor's orders. If we get nothing else from reform, we must get a requirement that insurance companies must pay for drugs and tests doctors order. Can you imagine how much paper and time we'd all save?
And government studies should be free to the patient. We spend all kinds of money on everything else. Let's start helping those who need help.

This is a very compelling and moving story that is nicely filmed and well presented. We need health care reform in this country urgently.
