Watch the progression of weather in the western North Pacific for the entire year of 1979 in six minutes! The animation is composed of 3-hourly GMS1 infrared images (with occassional gaps) played at a rate of one day per second from December 1978 through December 1, 1979. The season featured Super Typhoon Hope, which made a direct hit to Hong Kong on August 2nd. In late September, the standby signal No.1 was hoisted in Hong Kong for two tropical cyclones simultaneouly located within 400 nautical miles of Hong Kong, the only time that this had ever happened so far. The season also featured Super Typhoon Tip in October, which was the most intense tropical cyclone ever observed.
Annotations that follow the cyclones could be helpful for names.

@alphatelescopii Thanks for the suggestion. I've thought about doing that myself. Obviously, this will take more work and time. The challenge is to make the labels move with the TC while not blocking it and other TCs as they can get really busy.

@kykong Use the spotlight annotation. The one where you hover over it to see what it says, in this case the TC name.

@alphatelescopii Ok, thanks for the suggestion. It puts out a faint box to indicate the area of interest. I will try to see how well it works.
